Artifacts
Here on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Fallen Grid we have a specialized classification of items known as 'Artifacts'. Artifacts are items that are either crafted from the shards of the broken Power Crystal, or are items that have gained such fame and renown that they almost have a power and mythos all their own. They are a cut above normal items, either because of their power or just because of the bragging rights obtained for possessing it. These Artifacts are more powerful than normal items and are the type of things which legends are made of, greatly impacting your character and your play style. As such, Artifact selection should be a bold and lengthy decision. Artifacts are major representations of what your character stands for, and are often the first thing noticed about you. Your artifact will shape you as much as you shape it.Artifact Slots
In addition to the four normal Equipment Slots, each Player Character has one Artifact Slot. Artifact Slots can only hold Artifact items, and you will only ever have one. Unlike normal equipment slots, you can only possess a single artifact at a time. You cannot have a second artifact in your inventory at any time, even if it is not equipped. Artifacts are also different from normal items in that you cannot Buy, Sell, or Trade an Artifact from another player. Anyone who wants an Artifact must quest for it normally, using the rules detailed below.Artifact Types
There are two primary types of Artifacts here on Mighty Morphing Power Rangers: Fallen Grid. They are 'Lost Artifacts' and 'Crafted Artifacts'. Take a look at their descriptions below so you can understand the types of artifacts you can acquire.Lost Artifacts
Lost Artifacts are categorized as generally famous artifacts which have an age and reputation of their own. They are the type of things which people notice and immediately recognize, and often they belong to heroes or villains of legend. It is important to note that since Lost Artifacts are canon items, you cannot re-skin or change the design of a Lost Artifact. These iconic items have descriptions that must be adhered to. Lost Artifacts are also subject to Artifact Challenges. Since there is only one of each canon artifact, players can and will challenge you for your artifacts. If you possess a Lost Artifact, you cannot decline an Artifact Challenge. You are forewarned.Crafted Artifacts
Crafted Artifacts are items built by using the energy of a Power Crystal Shard. They are customized to the player crafting them, and can possess any number of effects. These are items becoming famous and popular in the world of today and are a cut above normal items. These are the items that are already attaining a legendary status of their own, and will one day become 'Lost Artifacts' themselves! Since crafted artifacts are made by the player, they can be any shape or style you wish. Is your artifact a special weighted tank top? Cool. What about a mech suit powered by your Power Crystal shard? Also fantastic. The only limit is your imagination, and the general rules of Power Rangers technology and lore.Acquiring an Artifact
Gaining an artifact requires three major things: A Power Crystal Shard, lots of credits, and a lengthy quest. Depending on which type of artifact you are seeking, there are a few changes to the exact method of acquisition.When attempting to gain a Lost Artifact, there are few steps you need to follow in order.
The first thing you need to do is fill out a "Lost Artifact Request” in the OOC Forum. This is a simple form in which you tell us which Lost Artifact you are seeking, and why it is relevant to your character. Because Lost Artifacts are canon and limited in nature and total number, we don't want people seeking artifacts just to spite other people, or just because they like the effect. We want Lost Artifacts to be relevant to your character's lineage, their journey, their fighting style, or some major decision or personality trait they have.
Once you've been approved to seek the artifact, you pay the Credits and EP costs of the artifact. You functionally have it at that time, but can begin writing the quest for information if you wish. Quests for Lost Artifacts may or may not be GM led, as they may sometimes involve significant PR lore, canon characters, or vicious battles to claim the Lost Artifact in question. Questing is voluntary, but provides you a 10% bonus to gains for RPing it out.
Each item has a different length of quest depending on exactly what the item is. Some quests may involve tomb robbing, winning the item back from a warlord, or stealing it from a dark and foreboding castle. The ultimate fate of these items is up to your imagination.
Purchasing a Lost Artifact requires a set amount of Credits, dictated by the item in question. Oftentimes you will hand over the money as part of the quest in character, the "purchase" thread you make after the quest is just for accounting purposes to keep track of it officially.
After your purchase has been approved, your shiny new artifact is all yours! Congrats! Wear your Lost Artifact with pride.
When attempting to gain a Crafted Artifact, the process changes slightly.
Instead of submitting an Artifact Request, your first step is designing your Artifact in the Item Creation forum. This will involve you working closely with the Staff to come up with a worthy, balanced effect uniquely tailored to your specific play style. Instead of explaining why the item fits you, you'll show it by designing how it looks and functions in or out of battle. Then the staff will set a price in Credits, and a quest length for your specific artifact.
Once your artifact is approved by a member of the staff, you may pay the Credits and EP costs for your item and then your item will be up for questing. Questing is voluntary, but provides you a 10% bonus to gains for RPing it out.
During the course of your quest you'll need to pay your Credits and use your Power Crystal Shard, but this time they'll be spent hiring craftsmen or finding rare ingredients to make the item you desire. Crafted Artifacts often use up the energy of the Power Crystal shard to generate their effects, although you may still end up using it to bribe or unlock the power of some other item, depending on your item's unique lore.
Artifact Challenges
Because Artifacts are unique and powerful items, only one of any Artifact can exist at a time. We also do not allow two Artifacts to have exactly overlapping or identical effects. So if somebody has an artifact you desire, the only way to get that item is to challenge them for it! Players who possess Crafted Artifacts do not have to accept this challenge until they are ready (though they are welcome to), but players with Lost Artifacts cannot decline an Artifact Challenge. If you hold a Lost Artifact, you are implicitly agreeing to fend it off in combat against anyone who would challenge you. This is largely due to the massively popular and inherently limited nature of canon items, and a desire to always see them in circulation among the player base, so no player can "hoard" a Lost Artifact and keep it out of play.When you want to attempt an Artifact Challenge, there is a slightly unique process to obtain the item. Read below, and, as with other Artifacts, you need to do these steps IN ORDER.
The first thing you need to do is submit an "Artifact Challenge Request" in the OOC Forum. This will detail which artifact you are seeking, who possesses it, and give the player you are seeking a heads-up that someone is coming for their artifact. Like with a Lost Artifact, this request needs to include why your character is seeking this particular item. Challenges should not be taken on likely, and the item should be important enough to your character design to prompt this challenge. It is common courtesy to "tag" the player using an @ and their username, to alert them of this request. The player in question and a staff member will both acknowledge/approve the request. If it is a Crafted Artifact, that player can deny your Challenge, and the process ends before any effort is wasted. If it is a Lost Artifact, the player in question must accept the challenge, so this is just an alert or a heads-up so they can prepare to fight you. Then you move on to the quest portion.
No matter what type of Artifact you are hunting, a GM assigned to you will take you through the quest process just as if you were seeking the Artifact normally. You will need to hunt down the owner of the artifact, possibly following their steps through some of the same quest objectives to ultimately find out who possesses the artifact you seek. You still need to spend the required Credits to bribe contacts or pay for your travel around the world seeking rumors. TheCredits are spent regardless of if you ultimately acquire the Artifact or not. So be ready to risk your coins on the ensuing battle if you initiate a Challenge!
After you've completed your quest, you'll do a purchase thread just as if you got the Artifact normally, subtracting the Credits and EP from your character that you paid in order to get the info for your Challenge. After this purchase has been approved, you can move on to the most climactic part of the challenge!
Next comes the actual battle. By default, all Artifact Challenges are Life or Death Battles. These are serious fights where you are trying to take something from someone who has it. Your GM for the quest will also oversee the battle to ensure all players are playing fairly, and to handle any disputes about activity. Whoever wins the battle also gains the Artifact in question! Congrats!
It is possible to forfeit this battle, in the event that you do not want to fight for the Artifact. In which case you simply indicate that you forfeit, and no battle occurs. The seeker will take your Artifact and move on. In this case the "Final Battle" is graded as a Personal Saga for both participants.
If you lose this battle, you'll be subject to normal Life or Death Battle rules, which can include death, hospitalization, etc.
Because Lost Artifact holders cannot decline an Artifact Challenge, it is important to be fair to them and their time. As such:
Only one Artifact Challenge can be active for any single Artifact at a time.
To keep Artifact Challenges speedy, all posts in the final battle have a strict 72 hour time window. If you fail to post in your window, your next turn will be skipped, and the battle will continue. You can lose a battle in this fashion if the damage that would be dealt is more than your remaining HP. This is precisely why a staff member oversees the battle, to adjudicate when and how these skips occur, and if an attack would reduce the enemy to 0 HP.
If a player successfully defends their Artifact from a Challenge, nobody else can challenge them for it for Two Weeks of real time. This time cannot be reduced by any means.
If you lose an Artifact Challenge you must wait 2 IRL months before you can attempt another Challenge for the same Artifact (you can, however, begin challenges for other artifacts). This applies for both participants. If you lose your Artifact in a challenge, you must wait 2 months before you can attempt a new challenge to get your Artifact back. This time cannot be reduced by any means.
Sometimes, a player who holds a Lost Artifact may go inactive, or leave the site entirely. In which case, there are rules about how you acquire Lost Artifacts in their possession.
You still submit your Artifact Request like normal.
If there is no response from the player after two weeks (and there is no notice of inactivity), staff will attempt to contact the player. If there is still no contact after an additional 2 weeks (a whole month), then the player will continue their quest like normal, but instead of fighting the player, your Quest GM creates another encounter for you to attempt. You must still defeat this encounter to gain the Artifact.
If you successfully claim the Artifact, the inactive player will be sent communications (via PM) informing them of the results of the challenge they missed.
Switching Artifacts
Sometimes, you realize an effect you thought would be beneficial to you is not as good for you as it seemed. Or perhaps you decide to re-create your build and your artifact no longer applies to you. Or, possibly, a new artifact was unveiled that fits your character better than the one you have, and you want to pursue it. IN these instances, it is time to Switch Your Artifact. Make sure to follow the steps below to switch your Artifact.Any Switching of Artifacts must begin with an Artifact Switching Request in the OOC Forum. Fill out the form and inform the staff which Artifact you currently hold, and which Artifact you want to quest for. This happens regardless of if you seek/hold a Crafted Artifact or a Lost Artifact. All Artifact Switching requires this request, even if you plan to switch through the use of an Artifact Challenge.
If you are approved to Switch, you must first relinquish the Artifact you hold. You do not receive any items, money, ep, or bp for relinquishing your artifact. You cannot sell your artifact for money or trade it to another player. They must quest for it just like anyone else. You simply post a "purchases" thread indicating you are relinquishing your current artifact. A staff member will approve it, and then you will need to remove the Artifact from your character sheet. This means you no longer benefit from anything the Artifact gave you. Your BP will adjust back to normal, and you cannot use it during the quest or Artifact Challenge for your new Artifact.
After you've dropped your current Artifact and your request is approved, then you can begin the questing process as normal, detailed above. You still need to pay your power crystal shards, credits, EP and/or quest words for your new Artifact. You don't get any discounts because you held an Artifact previously. Switching Artifacts, therefore, is a major decision, as you will lose out on all that hard work you did with no compensation. If successful you'll gain your new artifact! Congrats!

Effect:.Grants the user an additional use of a Special Technique during battle. In addition, your energy may not be sensed while this artifact is in your possession. In addition, the possessor of this rare artifact is considered to have a 30% BP increase. Finally, your BP is considered to be increased by a further 5% while this item is equipped for every ally you possess in this battle who has a lost artifact equipped.

Sword Altair
This sword gives the wielder control over water and allows them to perform a a devastating energy slash capable of causing crippling injuries to the victim.

Activation: Passive
Effect: Whenever in a battle with this sword in your possession, you may add half of your reflex rating to your fighting rating for a total of two turns per activation. In addition, you may use the technique 'Sonic Sway' an additional time per battle, even if you do not already possess this technique. The Sword Altair is an artifact of great power, and as such in addition to its other effects, the Sword Altair is considered to have a 15% BP increase.

Galaxy Book
The book is purported to hold immeasurable power and knowledge of several subjects, including the Lost Galaxy. It also contains information regarding the Galactabeasts and their lost counterparts, the Shark, Phoenix and Rhino Galactabeasts.

Effect: You gain an additional 50% EP and BP Rewards when doing a solo Personal Saga and an additional 25% EP and BP rewards when doing any other thread solo. While in combat, increase your Fighting and Energy Power skills by +10 each. In addition, the Galaxy Book's sheer spirit of determination provides the user and any additional player in a thread with another player, to gain an additional 5% rewards.As an item of great power, simply possessing the Galaxy Book generates an increase of 10% to the user’s base Battle Power.

Orb of Doom
This small orb could have the power to bend time and space itself. That is if the user can control it..

Effect: When equipped you gain a bonus 10% chance to inflict any status effect, and all successfully inflicted status effects have their duration increased by one round. Once per battle, you may use the "Divination" technique, even if you do not know it. In addition, you gain the ability to recover 1 Arcane Point (up to your maximum) every 2 turns. As an item of great power, simply possessing the Orb of Doom generates an increase of 40% to the user's base Battle Power.

The Wild Sword
The weapon known simply as the Wild Sword. Forged countless ages ago to protect the Earth. It became too powerful and had to be sealed within the Earth.

Effect: When The Wild Sword is activated, the first Special Technique used by you on this turn has an additional 40% chance to afflict Freeze on its target. The second Special Technique you use on this turn has an additional 50% chance to afflict Stun. Additionally, techniques you use on a turn in which The Wild Sword has been activated may not critically fail. If a technique does not already have a chance to afflict Freeze or Stun to their target, this item allows them to do so at the aforementioned rates. The maximum chance to afflict any status effect is 95%.

Ivan’s Ooze
A vial of ooze is the most foul. This mist is rumored to have been distilled from the darkness of Ivan Ooze himself and has properties that naturally enhance the aggressive, if not outright evil, tendencies of those who are exposed to it. Though time has diluted its effect somewhat, it is still potent when regularly exposed to an individual and can cause them to eventually turn into something more evil.

Mystic Legend Armor
The Legend Armor increases the Rangers' magical powers, and also supplies them with powerful battle armor.

In addition, as an item of great power simply possessing the Mystic Legend Armor generates an increase of 25% of the user's battle power.

Ninja Battle Armor
This battle armor was forged for a legendary warrior with a great defensive ability and it was crafted to allow for better resilience in battle.

Effect: This armor is surprisingly useful for its purpose of defense, even if most would not believe it to be capable of such. The user of this armor is considered to have 4 additional DR and 40 additional HP. In addition, the user is considered to possess an additional Protector class feature. Those who do not possess the Protector Class may only pick from the level 0 features of Protector. Those who do possess the Protector class may pick from any feature from the levels they have unlocked, and when they unlock a new level they may switch out the artifact unlocked feature chosen. As an item of great power, simply possessing the Ninja Battle Armor generates an increase of 10% to the user's Battle Power.

Lost Bag of Healing Gems
An unassuming leather sack, semi-mythical healing items tha tcan help aid the user in battle. Over time, the bag absorbed magical energy and became able to produce Healing Gems on its own.

Effect: The Bag of Healing Gems generates a random number of Healing Gems when it is obtained. These Gems follow standard Healing Gems rules but do not take up any item slots. Once the gems are all used, the Bag of Gems is removed from its owner's inventory and returned to the open pool of artifacts to be quested for again. As an item of great power, owning this artifact increases your Battle Power by 25%.

Power Blaster
A powerful assemblage of all 5 of the core Rangers' Weapons: Red Power Sword, Black Power Axe, Blue Power Lance, Yellow Power Daggers, and Pink Power Bow. Used as a finisher on small monsters, it fires five lasers, one from each barrel, each a different color corresponding with the Rangers position behind the blaster.

Effect: Once per thread, for every strike or energy blast you have made on that turn, you may utilize the Power Blaster to fire off an additional energy blast, with +5 Accuracy for every energy blast or strike you have already made, capping out at +30 Accuracy. These energy blasts do an additional +1 damage for every 20 points of energy power which you have, but have a 10% chance of hitting your allies or passerby, as determined by a roll of 1 on a 1d10. In addition, the Power Blaster provides a passive buff to your Battle Power by 40%.
